About us

John Blackwood is an internationally-known college instructor, writer, and developer and is currently a computer information systems instructor at the Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon.

He previously taught at the Louisiana Technical College - Hammond Area Campus where he earned an Outstanding Teacher award, The Oregon Institute of Technology (Klamath Falls, OR), The College of Lake County (Grayslake, IL), and City University (Bellevue, WA). John holds an M.S in Computer Systems from City University, B.A. from Indiana University, A.E. in Software Engineering Technology from the Oregon Institute of Technology, and an A.A.S. in Accounting from the College of Lake County.

He holds the MCSA/MCSE: Security (Server 2003), MCITP, CCNA/CCAI, and A+ industry certifications. John has several years of experience in software development, call center management and implementation, and international project management. He is the author of his own book about disaster preparation based on his family's experience with Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and other events. John also created and owns Outlook Archive Renegade.
